About Me

My name is Sean and you could say that this blog is my Ejournal.  It is my goal to inform, enlighten, and entertain readers about the various oddities that come into my mind during an ordinary day.  Most importantly though, I created this blog because I enjoy writing and I love learning.  I am a graduate of Penn State University where I majored in geography with my focus in geographic information science (Translation: I make maps and study the relationships between time and space).  I am currently a student in Penn State's geospatial intelligence certificate program and am a certified GIS/LIS mapping intern through the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.

I seem to be addicted to knowledge.  When I am not working on the assignments of school or work I find myself constantly searching random topics to see why things are the way they are (How did Boston get its name?) or thinking of ways that existing things could be improved upon (Traffic lights...they were invented over 140 years ago!  There has got to be a more efficient way to regulate driving patterns.)  My premiere areas of interest are: history, geography, nature, food, literature, and movies.

In addition to blogging I keep myself busy by reading, hiking, going to new places, brewing beer, jogging, and being an amateur photographer (aka having an Instagram account).  So, yeah that's me. I hope you enjoy the blog and you can forgive my grammar which can be lacking at times.  Most of all I sincerely hope that you leave this blog feeling at least a little entertained and slightly more knowledgeable then when you arrived.

***The City known today as Boston Massachusetts was originally called "Trimountaine" (a much cooler name than Boston I know)  in recognition of three hills that were prominent during the days of the city's founding.  ((Tri = three) + (Mountaine = Hill/Mountain) = Trimountaine)).  Due do expansion of the city much of the ground that comprised these hills was moved to flatten out the cities overall appearance and to fill in many of marshes, swamps, and even sections of Boston Harbor.  This is why today Bostonian's will not notice much significant elevation change within the city. Regardless, John Winthrop and other Puritans living in the Trimountaine area were not satisfied with the name their city had already been assigned and decided to change it to Boston in honor of Boston, England where many of the Puritans now living in Boston Mass. had originated from.
